The conference served as a forum for bringing together earthquake scientists, engineers, students and all those involved in managing earthquakes. It provides a unique opportunity for exchanging ideas on the present status of earthquake engineering and its implementation in the protection of the population and national economies against seismic impacts and the development of risk prevention culture. The established contacts among the scientists create opportunities for future bilateral and multi-lateral scientific cooperation within Europe and beyond.

The conference ran from 30th August – 3rd September 2010 and was held in Ohrid, an ancient town in the Republic of Macedonia. The conference took place in two hotels, the Metropol and the Gorica, both are lake resort hotels situated along the Ohrid lake shore, in the vicinity of the town itself.
