Dr Alan Muhr presents paper at IRC 2012, Jeju, Korea

TARRC's Head of Engineering Design Unit, Dr Alan Muhr presented a paper at the International Rubber Conference (IRC) 2012 held at the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel, Jeju, Korea from 21st-24th May 2012.

IRC 2012, Jeju, Korea

The IRC 2012 "Emerging Rubber Technology for the Future", is aimed at both academia and industry and will cover topics such as: Seismic Isolators, Bridge Bearings, and Other Structural Applications of Rubbers, including;
- Rubber Nanocomposites and Applications
- Emerging New Technologies based on Electro-active Rubbers and Plastics
- Rubbers, Blends, Compounding and General
- Rubber Processing, Vulcanisation, Simulation and Mould Design
- Surfaces/Interfaces, Adhesion and Reinforcing Systems
- Characterisation, Testing and Evaluation

Dr Muhr, who sits on the International Advisory Committee for the IRC, gave a plenary speech titled, 'Rubber-steel laminated bearings: physics of manufacture & performance', on Wednesday 23rd May 2012 in room 2F, Ballroom A.

Currently, the whole world is facing a great deal of challenges primarily due to the catastrophic damage arising from the unprecedented earthquake in Japan and disturbances all around the world. The IRC 2012 will provide participants with an opportunity to overcome these challenges and explore ways to develop the global rubber industry.

This was the second time that Korea has hosted the IRC after the 1999 IRC was previously held in Seoul. This year's conference took place in Jeju, the most beautiful island in Korea and known as the Hawaii of Asia.

For more information on the conference please take a look at their official website at http://irc2012.org/
