TARRC’s CEO becomes a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia

TARRC’s CEO becomes a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia Congratulations to TARRC’s CEO Dr Kamarudin Ab Malek who has been made a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia (ASM).

He was presented with a certificate at the Conferment Ceremony in Malaysia on 30th November 2010 by The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation YB Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili.

Dr Kamarudin began his career at TARRC in 1983 focusing on the longevity of engineering rubber components in order to show the excellent durability of NR in civil engineering applications. He then returned to the Rubber Technology Centre of the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) where he specialised in the use of rubber in engineering applications, particularly in the use of seismic rubber bearings for earthquake protection of structures. After heading the MRB’s Engineering and Product Design Unit, he returned to the UK in 2010 to take up the position of CEO at TARRC and Vice-Chairman of its Board.

The role of ASM is to advise the Malaysian government on matters relating to national importance; fostering a culture of excellence in science, engineering and technology; upgrading the technological capability and competency of the Malaysian industry and establishing international collaboration and cooperation.
