TARRC, along with colleagues at the MRB, were responsible in the design of the seismic rubber bearings for the second Penang bridge project in Malaysia which resulted in a large contract for a Malaysian company to manufacture over 2000 bearings for the bridge.

Being the Chairman of JKSB Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob was very interested in this aspect of TARRC’s work relating to the science and technology of seismic rubber bearings especially in the design and longevity of the bearings.
