New Analytical Laboratory for 2012 now operational

The new lab at TARRC

Work being carried out in the new labTARRC recently opened its new state-of-the-art 200sqm analytical laboratory in the main lab complex. The new laboratory has the capability to provide breakthrough research and development results using cutting-edge technology and state of the art equipment.

The updated facilities will ensure that the Materials Characterisation Unit is able to carry out their work for outside clients, as well as for internal projects, with increased efficiency and productivity.

The new laboratory was designed in-house by Materials Characterization Unit’s Deputy Head, Dr Mark Perkins, and was completed on time, under budget and was fully operational at the beginning of 2012.

Dr Perkins commented, ‘The new lab now houses our extensive range of thermal, spectroscopic and chromatographic analytical equipment. This includes Dionex ICS-2000 ion chromatograph, PL-GPC 50+ Gel Permeation Chromatograph and a new Dual-rail Gerstel MPS2 prep. station. We also have a range of extraction and sample preparation techniques available; including a Dionex ASE350 accelerated solvent extraction system’.

If you would like to visit us and view our new facilities or require more information on the kind of work we carry out in the new lab then please contact Dr Mark Perkins.
