TARRC presents two posters at Plant Genomics Congress

Plant Genomics Congress 2014, LondonSeveral members from TARRC’s Biotechnology Unit attended the 2nd Plant Genomics Congress held on 12th-13th May 2014 in London.

The conference was judged to be a great success, attracting around 300 experts in the field from industry and academia. The conference focused on recent developments in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms, technologies and analysis tools suitable for progressing plant based research in areas such as molecular marker development, crop/trait improvement, breeding, hybridization, conservation, evolution studies and pathology.  

TARRC’s biotechnology team presented two posters: ‘Harnessing the future natural rubber supply – Hevea brasiliensis Genome Sequence as a foundation for targeted crop improvement’ and ‘Working for the future of the industry - Hevea brasiliensis clonal identification using SNP marker genotyping’. Both presentations received high level of interest from congress participants. Number of new connections with leading professionals in the areas of plant genomics from the UK and Europe was established and new collaborative research opportunities discussed.
