Graham Bennett Awarded FPRIM
TARRC's Graham Bennett has been awarded the Fellowship of the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Malaysia (FPRIM) by The Plastics and Rubber Institute of Malaysia (PRIM), the Institute’s highest award. Graham received an inscribed certificate from Prof. Dr. M Nasir Zainal Ariff, president of the PRIM, at the Institute’s AGM dinner on 24th March 2007. Graham said that he was very surprised and happy to receive such an honour, which he dedicated to all of the people he has worked with in the past to give him the necessary experience with which to help the Malaysian rubber industry.
The Institute is a non-profit, non-governmental professional body catering for the needs of the polymer industry and professionals within Malaysia. It was established about 45 years ago as the Institute of Rubber Industry and was affiliated to the UK’s Institute of the Rubber Industry. Even today, it is still loosely affiliated to the UK’s Institute of Materials, Mining and Metals (IOM3). Its activities include organising educational courses, workshops, seminars and visits and bestows various professional membership grades to those found deserving of them.
Graham Bennett, one of TARRC’s team of scientists in the Industrial Support Unit, was honoured with this award for his work with the Malaysian industry to improve the quality, productivity and efficiency of the parts made and that of the workforce, and also to reduce waste and costs. Graham has been visiting Malaysia for the past 3½ years helping various companies to achieve global supplier status under the auspices of the MRB’s A5 programme.
