TARRC exhibited at the end of last year at Elmia Subcontractor 2007 in Jönköping, Sweden from 6th - 9th November. The exhibition is Northern Europe's leading trade show for subcontractors to the engineering industries.
A short seminar was also held in conjunction with the exhibition on 'Business Opportunities in the Malaysian Rubber Products' Sector on Wednesday 7th November.
The seminar included an introduction by Peter Beckert from IPS Konsult (www.ipskonsult.com), a Swedeish procurement consultancy with specific interest in Malaysia, followed by a presentation on Investment Opportunities in Malaysia by Mohd. Zulkafli Ismail, Economic Counsellor, Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (www.mida.gov.my), based in Stockholm.
Kristina Lawson, from the Industrial Development & Promotion Division at TARRC, provided an overview of the R&D support for rubber products in Malaysia and Europe, highlighting the facilities available at TARRC and Malaysia's Rubber Technology Centre. She also explained how specific assistance is given to companies wishing to outsource from Malaysian manufacturers.
A business to business match making event, b2fair, took place alongside the exhibition, involving meetings between 250 companies from 25 countries - both exhibitors and visitors. Meetings were held between TARRC and several Swedeish companies looking to source rubber products from Malaysian manufacturers.
