TARRC becomes a member of ERBI
In October 2008 TARRC became a full member of the Eastern Region Biotech Initiative (ERBI) – a networking organisation whose objective is to facilitate and accelerate the growth of biotech in Cambridge and the East of England. The ERBI is currently Europe’s leading regional bio industry group. Through ERBI membership, TARRC has the opportunity to meet and interact with almost 300 biotechnology and related companies through attending regular partnering exchange meetings.
Dr Maria Kolesnikova-Allen, Head of TARRC’s Biotechnology Unit commented, “TARRC sees ERBI as a vehicle to promote and publicise TARRC’s new Biotechnology Unit as well as to gain access to a broad range of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in the UK and Europe. TARRC is aiming to generate opportunities for building up partnerships between European companies, the Malaysian Rubber Board and other research groups in Malaysia”.
“In December last year, using the network linkages available through ERBI, TARRC’s Biotech Unit has established partnerships with companies who are experts in their field, including CovalAb (Lion, France) to initiate collaborative efforts and to outsource experimental work required for custom antibody production. Also, TARRC is looking at opportunities to benefit from substantial cost savings offered to ERBI members”.
Dr Kolesnikova-Allen added, “As a member TARRC is listed in the ERBI directory, on their website and in ERBI promotional material. TARRC also has the opportunity to use the ERBI website as an additional route for highlighting and promoting the work being carried out at our laboratories in Hertford, by the Biotechnology Unit and our other Units, as well as by our colleagues in Malaysia”.
